DISTRIBUTION

Found in peat swamp forests, lowland forests and hills.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The sapwood Is not clearly differentiated from the heartwood, which is light yellow or light yellow-brown when dry and pink when freshly cut.

Grain is interlocked.

Texture is fine to moderately fine and even.

Vessels are with simple perforations, medium-sized, generally few in number, mostly in radial pairs or multiples of two to six in a series and occasional clusters.

Wood parenchyma is exclusively apotracheal and occurs as rather closely spaced terminal bands.

Rays are fine and not normally visible to the naked eye on the cross-section.

USES

Suitable for interior finishing, joinery, cabinet-making, panelling, partitioning, furniture,veneer, plywood, boxes, crates and mathematical instruments.
