Le Vision Pictures (LeVP), one of China’s top three film studios by total box office sales, has been recognized as the coveted ‘Industry Game Changer’ by Bloomberg Businessweek—a prestigious acknowledgment reserved for the most innovative enterprises in China. With offices in Beijing and Los Angeles, LeVP was the only company in the technology, media and telecom industry to receive the honor.

“We’re grateful for this acknowledgement as it reinforces our swift and dedicated global efforts to be the world’s first connected studio,” said Zhao Zhang, Le Vision Pictures CEO. “By continuing to utilize a next-gen internet-powered approach across our various platforms and partnerships, we can deliver truly transformative content and experiences to our users.”

In collaboration with Bloomberg Businessweek, A.T. Kearny, a U.S. based global management consulting firm, noted LeVP’s innovative business model and ability to leverage its viewers to help shape and drive global content that matters an approach LeVP has demonstrated consistently in driving proven online-to-offline marketing and distribution tactics in the film and television industry across its ecosystem integrating content, platform, device, and application. LeVP also coined the “Great 2” (G2) strategy, which combines film equity investments, Chinese distribution, and global production capabilities to bring greater value to Chinese and U.S. audiences. By working with leading filmmaking talents on both sides of the globe, LeVP is positioning highly sought-after intellectual property for wide-release tentpole films, and creating unique franchise entities across all platforms and mediums that are both appealing and highly relevant to global audiences.

In November 2015, Le Vision Pictures USA announced its production slate of 13 upcoming films, which include the acquisition of Lionsgate’s “Gods of Egypt” for release in China, as well as partnerships with acclaimed director Rob Minkoff (“The Lion King” and “Mr. Peabody & Sherman), prolific producer Bernie Goldmann and writer Jayson Rothwell on “Zodiac: Year of the Snake,” and graphic novel powerhouse Dark Horse Comics, among others.

LeVP and Dark Horse Comics are working to develop and adapt a series of six hugely popular Chinese graphic novels, a partnership that is unparalleled in size and scope. The six titles are: “The Path to Immortality,” “The Descendants of Straw Mountain,” “Gods of China,” “The Naughty Queen,” “Magical Days,” and “P.A.I.U.” (“Paranormal Activity Investigation Unit.”)

On November 5th, CEO Zhao Zhang received the Industry Leadership Award at the sixth annual Asia Society U.S. China Film Summit in Los Angeles, where he was recognized for his tremendous contributions to the global film and entertainment industry. Zhang also served as a keynote at Variety Magazine’s Big Data Summit, where he covered key issues facing the global entertainment industry, including location-based data marketing and creating a more comprehensive ecosystem to help bridge Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and China.

In 2012, LeVP disrupted the Chinese entertainment landscape by pioneering the concept of an open, internet ecosystem-powered film and TV industry to accelerate global growth and innovation. By integrating more effective marketing, distribution, and ticketing practices that span the entire consumer lifecycle, LeVP provided users and moviegoing audiences access anytime, anywhere to premium content across platforms and devices.

LeVP produced China’s all-time highest grossing film franchise, “Tiny Times,” and distributed “The Expendables 2” and “The Expendables 3” in China. Currently, LeVP is in production on the highest-budget U.S.-China co-production to date, Zhang Yimou’s “The Great Wall,” starring Matt Damon with Legendary East and Universal Pictures.
