Ireland issued 3.5 billion euros ($3.71 billion) in new October 2043-dated green government bonds via a bank syndicate, attracting more than tenfold demand for the syndicated issue on Thursday, one of the lead manager banks said.

Books for the new bond closed in excess of EUR35 billion, including EUR3.2 billion joint lead manager demand, the same bank said.

The spread on the new bond was set 43 basis points above midswaps, having tightened from initial guidance of midswaps +46 basis points area. The bond, which has a 3% coupon, was priced at 98.404, at a yield of 3.106%, the same bank said.

Ireland's National Treasury Management Agency said in December that it plans to issue EUR7 billion-EUR11 billion in government bonds in 2023.

Lead managers of the transaction were BNP Paribas, BofA Securities, Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland, Danske Bank, Deutsche Bank and Nomura.
