International trade in goods in October 2021 shows an increase in comparison to October 2020; imports +14.0%, exports +7.9%

Vienna,2022-01-07 - The value of imports of goodswas at €15.45 bn in October 2021, an increase of 14.0% compared to October 2020, according to preliminary results by Statistics Austria. At the same time, exports of goodsrose by 7.9% to €14.21 bn. The balance of trade thus showed a deficit of €1.24 bn. Working-day adjusted, the rates of increase were 16.8% for imports and 12.8% for exports.

The four most important product groups for international trade in goods are machinery and transport equipment, manufactured goods, chemicals and related products and miscellaneous manufactured articles. Aggregated they showed an import growth of 7.0% to €11.81 bn and their exports rose by 5.2% to €11.96 bn. The highest absolute growth in exports was recorded with manufactured goods (+18.1%), followed by chemicals and related products (+19.7%).
