The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) today announced the consumer-related technology demonstrations it is showcasing during the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, 7-10 January 2014. Multiple IEEE standards for a wide variety of applications such as automotive networking, health-device communications, wireless charging, stream management, and robotics, along with many other technologies converging under the Internet of Things (IoT) to enable the "Connected Person," will be highlighted in demonstrations taking place in IEEE Booth 30242, upper level South Hall 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

IEEE-SA 2014 CES Demonstrations Schedule:

  • Tuesday, 7 January 2014, 10:00am-1:30pm
    IEEE P2100.1TM Standard Specifications for Wireless Power and Charging Systems
    2014 CES attendees will see how wireless charging will soon be incorporated into consumers everyday environments seamlessly via Corian® countertops, phone cases and more.
  • Wednesday, 8 January 2014, 9:00am-6:00pm
    IEEE P802.3bpTM Reduced Twisted Pair Gigabit Ethernet PHY Task Force and IEEE 802.3buTM Power over Data Lines (PoDL)
    Visitors to CES will learn about Ethernet data and power delivery in automotive applications and use-case models for Ethernet in vehicles.
  • Thursday, 9 January 2014, 9:00am-1:30pm
    IEEE 2200TM Standard Protocol for Stream Management in Media Client Devices
    IEEE-SA will demonstrate how the connectivity and quality barriers for rich data-consuming applications can be overcome so that content is available anytime and anywhere, with no buffering.
  • Thursday, 9 January 2014,1:30-6:00pm
    IEEE 11073TM Family of Standards
    Attendees will see first hand how personal health devices such blood pressure monitors, glucose meters and weigh scales interoperate, and how the data is used within an electronic health record (EHR) or personal health record (PHR).
  • Friday, 10 January 2014, 9:00am-1:30pm
    IEEE 1872TM Standard for Ontologies for Robotics and Automation
    IEEE-SA will demonstrate the representation, flow, reasoning, and communication of knowledge in robotics and automation domains and how the future of robotics will be impacted.
