The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state of Hawaii’s tourism agency, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as the next president and chief executive officer.

The HTA seeks an individual with superior executive leadership and administrative skills demonstrated through experience in similar positions. The successful applicant will have the proven ability to be an effective spokesperson and to bring the spirit of Hawaii to the world by communicating and branding the uniqueness of Hawaii’s people, place and culture. The next HTA president and CEO will be required to establish rapport with the HTA board and staff, Hawaii government officials, community members, visitor industry stakeholders and partners in the HTA’s major areas for destination marketing, and must have superior planning and vision-development skills.

Key to the position will be the development of collaborative partnerships with public and private organizations involved in efforts to attract, support and develop tourism in Hawaii. Additionally, the president and CEO will recommend long-term strategic planning initiatives and report on the economic feasibility, costs, benefits, risks and measures of success for specific programs.

The president and CEO serves at the direction of the HTA board of directors. Salary will be commensurate with the experience, expertise and knowledge of the applicant.
