Vermonters will be celebrating National School Choice Week at 55 different events, and Gov. Scott has issued a proclamation for the week in support of the celebrations.

Scott is one of dozens of governors across the country who join hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide in issuing School Choice Week proclamations.

Vermont’s events and activities are part of the 32,000 being planned across the country during the week of Jan. 21-27. The events, including rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more, aim to spark conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children, and to raise awareness about educational opportunity.

“We’re excited that so many Vermonters will be participating,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “Vermont parents, like parents everywhere, want the best for their children – and we hope they can use this week to talk about what they like or don’t like about their schools and find something that works well for their kids’ individual needs and skills. We’re grateful to Gov. Scott for raising awareness of this important issue.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
