Plans for an international airport continues to materialize for Dominica.

Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit stated that construction work on the international airport will be a major priority for Government in 2021.

'For all of us in this country the international airport is the major infrastructural project, and we will be pressing on very, very heavily in 2021 with the construction of the international airport. We have finalized negotiations for the land; we have started to clear the site for the construction for the residences of those persons who will be affected by the airport construction,' PM Skerrit stated.

Prime Minister Skerrit explained that the construction of homes for residents who will be relocated near the airport site will commence at the end of this month.

Prime Minister Skerrit added that the construction of the international airport will create employment opportunities for citizens.

'It is going to be a major investment in our country, major opportunity for employment for a number of people; the engagement of people with heavy equipment and trucks, and we are moving towards the proper registration of this and we are looking to advance this,' the PM added.
