More than 1,000 students, parents, educators, and community leaders will celebrate the importance of opportunity in education at a celebration timed to coincide with National School Choice Week.

The student-focused event, planned for January 24 at 11:00 a.m., will feature remarks from Governor Asa Hutchinson, national education reform advocate Dr. Howard Fuller, along with parents, students, and community leaders.

The goal of the event is to spotlight educational options for Arkansas students and tell student success stories. The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week (January 21-27, 2018), which will feature more than 32,000 events across the country.

“Year after year the Arkansas School Choice Rally in Little Rock continues to grow. We continue to see demand for education options explode across the state and we’re excited to host several regional events this week,” said Valerie Pruitt, Executive Director of The Reform Alliance, a main planning partner in the Arkansas events. “Parents in Arkansas want more options, students in Arkansas deserve more opportunities, and the time for our state legislators to act boldly is now!”

The lead organization planning the event is The Reform Alliance.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 32,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
