WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with its Winter Leadership Weekend, Georgetown University Alumni Association (GUAA) will honor notable alumni on Friday, February 8th at its Annual Service Recognition Awards Banquet in Washington, D.C. at the Four Seasons from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. The Alumni Service Awards recognize individuals for their commitment of service to alumni, the university, and their communities. Tickets may be purchased online here. Awardees are graduates from several renowned Georgetown schools including: the Walsh School of Foreign Service, McDonough School of Business, Georgetown Law Center, Georgetown University School of Medicine, McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown College, Georgetown University School of Dentistry and the School of Nursing and Health Studies.

The GUAA's Board of Governors selected the following honorees:
- Stephen N. Bakios, D.D.S., of Portsmouth, RI, will receive the Apollonian Alumni Award for demonstrated exceptional efforts on behalf of the alumni of the School of Dentistry;
- Christopher M. Farrell, M.D., of Bethesda, MD, and Joseph F. Panarelli, M.D., of New York, NY, will receive the Founders Alumni Award, named for the founders of the Georgetown University School of Medicine and conferred upon alumni whose dedication to the medical school has been remarkable;
- Alvaro Madrigal Alvarez, of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth Eisenstein, of Boston, MA, Lucy Rooney Kapples, of Boston, MA, and Michael F. Williams of Washington, DC will all receive the William Gaston Alumni Award, named for Georgetown's first student, which recognizes outstanding service by undergraduate alumni, who have exhibited leadership across many activities such as alumni clubs, class programs or participation in other university activities;
- Colonel (Retired) Gregory D. Gadson, a native of Chesapeake, VA, Rebecca Welsh O'Connor, of Atlanta, GA, Geoffrey W. S. Okamoto, of Washington, DC, and Jeffrey Rothschild, of New York, NY, will receive the 1820 Graduate Award for outstanding leadership and service by graduate alumni to their alma mater.
- Gerard P. Alolod, of Philadelphia, PA, and Christina M. Hanna, M.D. M.P.H., of New Hope, PA, will receive the William G. Reynolds Young Alumni Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership and service of a Georgetown undergraduate alumnus prior to his or her 15th reunion year.
- Rev. Matthew Carnes, S.J., of Washington, DC, will receive the James S. Ruby Faculty Appreciation Award for outstanding leadership and service with distinction.
