GEICO and the National Children's Museum (NCM) have partnered to bring "Museum on the Move" to various locations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in 2015, beginning Saturday, Jan. 10 at the NBC 4 Health and Family Fitness Expo at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Museum on the Move" is an initiative designed to provide children of all ages, educational backgrounds and demographics access to the NCM's highly touted exhibits and proprietary educational programs and resources. The exhibits will be housed at multiple District of Columbia public libraries and in a new "Rolling Museum" exhibit featuring the Imagination Playground. The exhibits will be on tour at local events throughout the year.

“The museum has had strong relationship with GEICO for many years and we’re so grateful for the support they’ve given not only to our organization, but to the children and families we serve,” said S. Ross Hechinger, chairman of the National Children’s Museum board of trustees. “We’re thrilled to partner with GEICO once again to launch 'Museum on the Move,' which will help us bring our educational programming and resources to communities in all parts of the District of Columbia.”

"GEICO has always been an avid supporter of cultural and educational programs for children and their families," said Seth Ingall, GEICO senior vice president. "We are proud to sponsor the NCM's 'Museum on the Move,' which will provide state of the art educational opportunities in a variety of settings for our children and their families in the National Capital area."

About the National Children's Museum

The National Children’s Museum (NCM), whose mission is "to inspire kids to care about and improve the world," was founded in 1974 as the Capital Children’s Museum. Designated by the U.S. Congress as the only national museum focused on children and renamed the NCM in 2003, the museum houses exhibits and educational programs designed to spark children's imagination and creativity. Located at National Harbor in Prince George’s County since 2012, the museum has welcomed more than 250,000 visitors over two years. The museum plans to return to a location within the District of Columbia in 2015 in order to expand accessibility and to reach a greater number of children, families and tourists in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
