Fight For Children, a DC based non-profit focused on improving the quality of early childhood education for children from low-income communities in the mid-Atlantic region, will host a day-long professional development training session for school leadership on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Charles Sumner School Museum in Washington, DC from 9:00am -12:00pm. Approximately 100 principals, assistant principals, academy leaders and teacher leaders are expected to be in attendance.

The “Joe's Champs” Professional Development seminar, aptly named for Fight For Children’s flagship early childhood program, will feature sessions on brain development and maximizing instructional time. This event coincides with National School Choice Week (January 24-30, 2016), which is the largest series of education-related events in US history.

Since we know a quality early education lays the foundation for future academic success, we feel it’s critical to inform parents of their options, along with all of the benefits from the highly specialized early childhood programs available throughout the District of Columbia.” said Danah Telfaire, senior program manager with Fight for Children.

Fight For Children currently provides monthly professional development to approximately 60 school leaders from 30 District of Columbia Public Schools, DC Public Charter Schools, and private institutions through their Joe's Champs early childhood program.
