■'Establishment of a Supply Chain Model for Bio-jet Fuel Production from Domestic Used Cooking Oil' was selected as a public call project of NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization).

■While SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) production and supply on a commercial scale has not been realized in Japan, by demonstrating and constructing a SAF manufacturing supply chain model using used cooking oil as a raw material, we aim to start the full scale supply by 2025.

JGC Holdings Corporation (Representative Director, Chairman, and CEO: Masayuki Sato, Head Office: Nishi-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as 'JGC HD'), REVO International Inc. (Representative Director: Tetsuya Koshikawa, Head Office: Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, hereinafter referred to as 'REVO International'), Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. (President, Representative Director: Yasuhiro Suzuki, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as 'Cosmo Oil') and JGC Japan Corporation, a domestic EPC company of the JGC Group (Representative Director, President: Shoji Yamada, Head Office: Nishi-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as 'JGC') have announced that their joint proposal for 'Establishment of a Supply Chain Model for Bio-jet Fuel Production from Domestic Used Cooking Oil' has been selected as a public call project of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (hereinafter referred to as 'NEDO') : 'Bio-jet fuel production technology development business / development of supply chain model through demonstration' in the SAF production technology development business (hereinafter referred to as 'NEDO Project') .

With the selection of the NEDO Project, we plan to receive subsidies from NEDO for the following costs: business study cost for the start of SAF production and supply, cost of design and construction of SAF production facilities, cost of demonstration operation and utility supply, and study cost of procurement of used cooking oil as raw material.

In addition, Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd., which has experience in the circular economy business (recycling business), will participate in this NEDO Project as a consignment business partner of JGC HD. We aim to develop and demonstrate a smart IT system for the collection of used cooking oil.

In the future, we will further accelerate business development toward the establishment of a SAF supply chain through this NEDO project. We aim to have SAF production facilities up and running and to start supplying SAF by 2025.

In addition, we will continue to promote the reduction of GHG emissions and aim to create a sustainable, recycling-oriented society.

(1) Overview

Against the backdrop predicted long-term growth of aviation demand, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other aviation organizations have been urgently addressing the issue of combatting global warming through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The introduction of SAF has been identified as one of the most necessary and indispensable solutions.

This NEDO project will focus on SAF production technology that can technically realize the envisioned scale of future production. (A supply chain model for SAF production and supply to airports, based on SAF production technology that could be commercialized in the future) for which a supply chain model for SAF will be established at an early stage.
