PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Mar 17, 2014) - Emerge.MD, the only telehealth cloud platform that can connect all the people, processes and technology involved in virtual care with a high degree of security, today announced Edward M. Reece, M.D., M.S. will join the company as its Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Reece will draw on his years of experience as a specialized surgeon to consult with Emerge.MD clients and developers to create and implement solutions that meet the needs of clinicians, patients, and administrators. Dr. Reece joins Emerge.MD as the latest executive recruit to help augment the clinical strategy of the company.

"Ed has long been a proponent for improving provider collaboration and patient outcomes through the use of innovative virtual care solutions," said Dr. Shez Partovi, Founder of Emerge.MD. "Ed works for Emerge.MD, but his real job is to be an advocate for clinicians, patients, and administrators -- to make sure we are meeting their changing needs."

Dr. Reece is a board-certified plastic surgeon and subspecialist in surgery of the hand and practices with Arizona Center for Hand Surgery. He covers 12 different hospitals and four different hospital systems, and uses Emerge.MD to communicate with patients in real-time when he is unable to be at the bedside.

"We're in an era of very dynamic patient flow with hospitals and we're looking at systems like ACOs where we have to reach out to vast numbers of patients," said Dr. Reece. "Emerge.MD is the missing step to allow dynamic patient flows virtually, clinically and at administrative levels. This is both an exciting and a scary time to be in medicine from a physician's standpoint and from a CMO's standpoint. There are a lot of unanswered questions. Emerge.MD allows a physician and CMO to bridge those questions seamlessly."
