Parents interested in exploring different educational options for their children are invited to the 2017 Education Fair of Smyth County from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017 (snow date: Jan. 31) at Chilhowie Christian Church.

The Chamber of Commerce of Smyth County is hosting the education fair, in partnership with National School Choice Week. The event will feature information on public and private schools and resources for families interested in home schooling.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2017, which will feature more than 21,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“We are excited to host the Education Fair of Smyth County. We want to connect parents with different education options in Smyth County. We also want to provide resources for adults to continue their education,” said Sarah Gillespie, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of Smyth County. “And finally, we would like for private schools, public schools, field trip locations and other educational opportunities to network and use each other for the benefit of our children.”

As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country.
