[Attachment] Republican politicians have complained for years that Iowa's collective bargaining law provides overly generous benefits to public-sector workers. They seem particularly obsessed with the cost of health insurance and how little some workers contribute toward it. Now the GOP controls both chambers of the Iowa Legislature.

They are seeking changes to the law, known colloquially as chapter 20 for its place in Iowa Code. Though it's not clear exactly what these legislators want, it is clear they don't like the status quo on how teachers, police officers, nursing home inspectors and other public workers negotiate pay, time off and fringe benefits.
