Every year, there are thousands of people all across the world who are forced to wait for organs to become available so that they can undergo transplants. Sadly, some of these people don't live long enough to get the organs they need.

A Swedish company called Cellink has created a process known as 3D bioprinting that allows them to use a special bio-ink containing human cells. At the moment, the bio-ink, which includes cellulose found in Swedish forests as well as alginate found in seaweed in the Norwegian Sea, can be used to create human cartilage and skin cells for the purpose of drug and cosmetic testing. But the researchers behind the bio-ink think they might be able to use it to manufacture human organs and body parts before long.

According to Cellink, there are already some major companies, including L'Oreal, that are intrigued by how their 3D bioprinting services could help test products. But Cellink is thinking even bigger than that. While they would love to have their creations used in laboratories, they also want to make even more progress and have the ability to create organs and other body parts. It could completely revolutionize the human existence if they are able to do it, and they are thinking they might have the right technology to do it within the next two decades.

For now, Cellink is still developing as a company and 3D bioprinting is still in its infancy stages. But at EliTech Group, we love to see what they are doing, and we can't wait to see what happens next.
