Speaking in Parliament today, DUP Member of Parliament for East Londonderry, Gregory Campbell MP pressed to Government to ensure that in any international trade missions, Northern Ireland companies are well represented to ensure further job creation in the Province. Mr. Campbell also used the occasion to welcome the jobs announcement in his constituency by seven local companies who are creating 51 new jobs with support from the Enterprise, Trade and Investment department.

Speaking in Parliament, Gregory Campbell said;

'The DETI Minister today announced the creation of more than fifty new jobs in my constituency, which is a start in an area of high unemployment, but will the Minister use her influence in the Cabinet to ensure that when there are overseas development visits and trade visits to further ensure that Northern Ireland companies are included to bring investment to Northern Ireland?'

In response the Secretary of State said:

'I can certainly do that. It is vitally important that in UKTI's work overseas in terms of bringing investment to the United Kingdom that it champions the benefit of investing in Northern Ireland. It is a great place to invest.'

Speaking afterwards, Gregory Campbell MP said:

'I am delighted that the support given by DETI has produced 51 new jobs. This is a good example of devolution delivering. Investment by the local government at Stormont is very welcome. We can also be proud that over the last four years Northern Ireland has attained new levels of Foreign Direct Investment. We have a really positive story to sell to potential investors, especially in the North West and Causeway Coastal areas. I will continue to press the Secretary of State to ensure Northern Ireland is given the chance to spread our good news to as many people as possible.'
