Continuing its mission to help grow and enhance Texas communities by providing sustainable, solution-oriented results, Southwest Engineers, Inc., a full-service civil and environmental engineering consulting firm, today announced its partnership with real estate development firm, Cantex Development, LLC, to provide all domestic development and civil engineering services for the new Las Colinas Subdivision in Kenedy, Texas.

Created and sanctioned under the leadership of Southwest Engineers president, John Littlefield, along with real estate professional partners, Cantex Development was formed to complement the skill set and expertise of Southwest Engineers. This alliance is making possible the first residential site built subdivision in the area in decades. Together, the two Texas-based firms will collaborate to help plan and stimulate municipal growth for the city's long-term success.

"The collaboration between Southwest Engineers and Cantex Development reflects the vision of both organizations to help progressively and strategically grow communities like the city of Kenedy," said Littlefield. "Our goal is to identify meaningful, high quality projects and develop reliable, long-term solutions that successfully position Texas communities and municipalities to benefit today's community and future generations."

Featuring modern amenities within an intimate community, Las Colinas is located in Karnes County near San Antonio and will offer 115 lots in the first two phases of development. Construction is slated to begin the second quarter of 2014, with home completion targeted for the end of the year. In its current state, Kenedy relies on temporary housing options for its new residents, who are largely employees and visitors associated with the oil and gas industry. These options include RV parks, "man camps,"--often described as makeshift villages of narrow, metal-sided buildings--and a small selection of hotels in surrounding cities.

"It is a privilege to partner with Cantex Development on this innovative milestone for the City of Kenedy," said Eric Schulze, senior project engineer of Southwest Engineers. "As a family-owned and-operated business, we focus on projects centered on sustainable community growth. We've been working in and around Kenedy for more than 30 years and are very excited to help bring this new community to life."

The joint vision of Cantex Development and Southwest Engineers is to create a residential and more permanent option for those who have, until now, had limited access to established homes.
