Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania : Announces $1.2 Million Pipeline Replacement Project on East Market Street in York

Natural gas customers in York will continue to have safe, reliable, and efficient natural gas service delivered to homes and businesses thanks to Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Inc. The Company has begun a project to invest approximately $1.2 million to replace 6,700 feet of natural gas pipelines on East Market Street.

The infrastructure replacement project involves pipelines along East Market Street between Haines Road and Mt. Zion Road. Construction work will take place Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM with some evening work possible. Temporary lane closures are possible during working hours.

The construction work will require a temporary interruption of natural gas service for individual customers while their service is transferred to the new pipe. Columbia Gas will make personal contact with customers prior to shutting off service and to schedule service restoration. Customers will have their service lines replaced if needed. This work will be done at no additional cost to the customer.

From 2007 - 2016, Columbia Gas invested nearly $1.35 billion in the modernization and expansion of its distribution system in Pennsylvania. Of that amount, approximately $1 billion was dedicated to replacing 826 miles of priority pipe. In 2017, Columbia Gas will invest approximately $260 million in Pennsylvania, with more than $200 million being invested to upgrade aging underground infrastructure.
