Cold weather low temperature concept

Over the past few weeks during the extreme weather events, 22 H3S (Health, Housing and Human Services) staff along with many community volunteers have coordinated lifesaving services for the homeless residents of our community. In freezing weather, warming shelters with blankets, food, and supplies are essential to ensure our neighbors are safe and sheltered. For 19 consecutive days in the past few weeks approximately 100 Clackamas County residents received lifesaving warmth and shelter due to these coordinated efforts. I want to express sincere thanks to each of you who took the time out of your busy lives to help.

Unfortunately, we are anticipating freezing temperatures in Clackamas County beginning Sunday night January 22nd that could potentially last for a full week. We are seeking additional volunteers to help. Volunteer activities can include helping with transportation, shelter staffing, running for coffee and other errands. If you or a friend or relative wished to volunteer to help please email Linda Anderson, su.ro1485376756.sama1485376756kcalc1485376756.oc@n1485376756osred1485376756naL1485376756.

Linda will be creating a spreadsheet and will be attempting to cover all overnight shifts at the warming shelters. Shelter staff are there to provide assistance and structure to the folks seeking assistance. We will need to fill three hour shifts between the hours of 6-9, 9-12, 12-3 am, and 3-6 am. The locations of warming centers will likely be in Oregon City; Fathers Heart, the Molalla Warming center, St. Stephens church in Gladstone, potentially one in Oregon City and potentially Canby. We may have to open additional sites depending upon the need.

If you are interested in helping please provide your name and phone number and your preferred shift to Linda. If you are interested in receiving training on shelter support, Vahid Brown is happy to provide that next week to volunteers. Let us know if you would find that helpful.

I realize that not everyone can volunteer; you can also help by bringing new or lightly used blankets, coats, clothing, socks, etc., to the Health, Housing & Human Services, Office of the Director in the Clackamas County Public Services Building, 2nd Floor, Room 239, 2051 Kaen Road, Oregon City OR. Open every day until 6 pm.
