Rather than disposing of them in your trash, you can drop off your holiday light strings at the City of West University Place, Public Works building located at 3826 Amherst Street, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM Monday-Friday. Note that collection of the string lights will be accepted only until next Monday, January 8, 2018.

There will be a labeled container in the lobby for you to deposit your light strings, which will be recycled at the Houston Zoo.

Only string lights will be accepted for recycling, please do not bring flood lights, extension cords or light hooks.

'Please-no trees'!
