Friday night's snowfall covered Saskatoon with approximately 7 centimetres of snow. City crews have worked through the night clearing snow on Priority 1 streets such as Circle Drive, 22nd Street, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive and 8th Street. Grading continues on the remaining Priority street network.

The extreme cold, combined with this new moisture may cause icing on bridge decks, freeway ramps, overpasses and high-traffic intersections. Crews are sanding; however, salt is not effective at these low temperatures and sand is not sticking to the road.

Drivers should slow down and use extra caution as drifting has reduced lane width.

Allow for extra time to reach your destination, leave extra room for stopping distance, and watch for blue and yellow flashing lights on road maintenance equipment.

When safe to do so, drivers can report icy locations to the Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476 or e-mail customercare@saskatoon.ca.
