Officials from the California Department of Food and Agriculture announced that they have begun a second round of insecticide treatments in San Gabriel to combat Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) infestation discovered last year on citrus trees near Vincent Lugo Park. This infestation causes the Huanglongbing (HLB) citrus disease that can be detrimental to the plants.

At designated residential properties, workers will apply a diluted form of Tempo SC Ultra (cyfluthrin), a contact insecticide, to the leaves of citrus trees and plants. In addition, a diluted formulation of Merit 2F, an imidacloprid insecticide, will be applied to soil beneath trees. Residents of affected properties will be notified at least 48 hours prior to application of insecticides.
