City Furniture, South Florida’s top-selling furniture retailer, today announced its pledge to donate a minimum of five percent of annual profits to charities throughout Florida. The pledge reflects City Furniture’s decades-long role as a community steward and comes on the heels of the company’s $1 million donation in November to Covenant House of Florida, addressing needs of homeless and at-risk youth.

“We owe much of our success over 47 years to the communities that have allowed our business to grow,” said City Furniture CEO Keith Koenig. “We believe there’s no limit to the good we can do by partnering with deserving organizations through fundraising, volunteering and activism.” Koenig noted that with the company’s $100 million expansion underway, timing is right to step up its commitment to help empower organizations in the communities it serves.

The company’s giving, in cash and in-kind, remains focused on five areas:

  • Home - Uplifting those in need by teaming up with Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and community-focused groups
  • Health - Fostering physical and mental health with partners like the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association
  • Service - Supporting veterans, first responders and all who serve through organizations such as Wounded Officers Initiative and the Everyday Hero program with the Miami Dolphins
  • Diversity- Empowering equality through activism and outreach by working with the Urban League of Broward County, Anti-Defamation League, and more
  • Education - Developing a brighter future with the help of Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward, Junior Achievement and others

“While the announcement of our five percent pledge is new, commitment to community has been part of our DNA since Day One,” said Koenig.
