The Chamber of Mines congratulates the Richards Bay Coal Terminal and Transnet Freight
Rail on reaching a historic tonnage level for the 2013.
During 2013 Transnet Freight Rail delivered a record 70,81 million tons of coal to Richards
Bay Coal Terminal, while the terminal exported a record 70,234 million tons of coal.
These achievements are an indication that the endeavours to ease infrastructure constraints are bearing fruit.
The industry lauds government's infrastructure interventions and further commits to working closely with all stakeholders to move the South African mining sector forward to achieve much needed economic growth for the country.
"This achievement proves that with coherent leadership and focused planning we can achieve more", said Mike Teke, President of the Chamber.
