Outage on Friday, January 12th Explained

On Friday, January 12th, 2018, customers in Frank Sound, North Side, East End, Bodden Town, Savannah, Prospect and some areas of George Town experienced interruptions to their electricity service between 7:20 a.m. and 8:27 a.m.

This interruption to service was caused by equipment failure within the transmission loop feeding the Eastern Districts during scheduled maintenance and upgrades of the back-up section of the transmission loop. This equipment failure affected the Company's South Sound, Prospect, Bodden Town and Frank Sound Substations causing interruptions to customers' service.

Approximately 14,337 of the Company's 28,000 customers were affected.

CUC apologizes for the inconvenience this outage caused.
