PUBLIC NOTICE

CALL FOR PAPERS: BANK OF ZAMBIA WORKING PAPER SERIES

In 2020, the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) ceased the publication of the hard copy format of the BoZ Reader in preference for the electronic format which is published as Working Papers Series on the BoZ website. The Working Papers Series constitutes articles from researchers, scholars, and other authors that include BoZ staff on various issues of interest to the Zambian economy. The change to the electronic format was to keep abreast with international best practices and to ensure that research papers are published on a continuous basis.

To enhance the dissemination of research on the Zambian economy, the Bank invites researchers, scholars and other authors to submit research manuscripts to be considered for publication as Working Papers Series in 2021. The manuscript should not exceed 30 pages, including references. Upon acceptance of the manuscripts, the authors will be invited to present their papers before the Technical Committee at the Bank of Zambia. All manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft word format to Dr Frank Chansa fchansa@boz.zmand in copy Mr Patrick Mulenga pmulenga@boz.zm.

Find below the details of the layout of the articles. Kindly note that the manuscripts can be submitted any time during the course of 2021.

Layout of Articles for the BoZ Working Papers Series

1. Abstract: This provides a brief summary of the main findings in the paper. It is important especially for readers who have no time to read the whole paper. The abstract should not exceed 150 words.

  1. Introduction: The introduction provides the motivation and background to the paper. In the introduction, a literature review and contribution of the paper to knowledge are included.
  2. Literature Review: The author may include a separate section on literature review instead of including it in the introduction if it is long.
  3. Analytical Framework/Theoretical Framework/Model. It is important to describe briefly the theory, on which the arguments in the paper are premised, especially any deviations from standard models.
  4. Empirical Analysis (Where applicable). This should include an adequate description of the data used and their source. It should also include the methodology used in analysing the data and the justification for the choice of that methodology as well as an explanation of how it departs from what has been done by previous authors.
  5. Policy Implications (Where applicable). Authors writing policy papers are at liberty to include a section on policy implications if they do not form part of the conclusion.
  6. Conclusion. This should serve to remind the reader of the main findings in the paper.
  7. List of References. Authors appearing in the main text should be included in more detail in the List of References. Names of journals and books should be in italics.
  8. Disclaimers: Disclaimers should be included in all the papers.
