The Belgian economy grew in the third quarter despite strict Covid-19 restrictions, the National Bank of Belgium said Friday.

The country's gross domestic product grew 0.2% compared with the previous quarter, the central bank said.

The agency also revised data for the third quarter of 2020. Following the revision, the data showed Belgium's GDP grew 11.6% in the third quarter compared with a first estimate of a 10.7% expansion.

GDP fell 4.8% on year in the fourth quarter on a calendar and price-adjusted basis, the National Bank of Belgium said.

For the full year, GDP contracted 6.2% in 2020, a decline of more than three times as big as that seen during the financial crisis, when GDP fell by 2.0% in 2009.
