In its second year offering marketplace health insurance plans, Freeway Insurance reports that a significant portion of its health insurance sales came by way of customer referrals – a key indicator of both customer satisfaction and growing demand. The 2016 open enrollment period also marks the expansion of health insurance offerings in three new markets – Oregon, Virginia and Georgia. Previously, health care coverage was only sold in California.

“Although the health insurance exchanges are still in their early stages, it’s clear they are here to stay,” said Darrin Silveria, Chief Sales Office of Freeway Insurance. “And as they evolve, we’re delighted to help them achieve their goals and to continue serving the customers who’ve come to trust us for our expertise in insurance products.”

Freeway has seen increasing demand for health insurance, among other products, since the previous open enrollment period – the first year Freeway Insurance sold health insurance. This is attributed to the company’s extensive network of agents who facilitate the complexities of insurance and provide a wide variety of options to customers, including policies from top carriers such as Kaiser Permanente and Anthem Blue cross. As more customers get accustomed to shopping for a law-mandated health care plan, Freeway projects a steady growth in health insurance sales. Further, the increasingly higher fines for not having health insurance could potentially fuel this growth in the next few years.

Covered California announced on Wednesday, January 27 that consumers may seek assistance from Certified Insurance Agents to complete their Open Enrollment through February 6. Many Freeway Insurance locations will be open evenings and weekends to assist customers with their last-minute health insurance needs until that date.
