AmSty announced that it will extend a regularly scheduled turnaround of a styrene unit at its St. James, LA, facility through mid-March to complete repairs on critical equipment. “Safety and operational reliability are paramount concerns at AmSty,” said Bradley Crocker, President and Chief Executive Officer. “In this case, we are making necessary repairs based on findings discovered during our maintenance turnaround. As such, about half of AmSty’s styrene production will be offline for substantially all of the first quarter. At this time, we do not expect a significant effect on our downstream polystyrene production. We will keep our customers informed as we work to bring full styrene production back online.”
