Ally Financial : House prices 6.5 percent higher in December

Along with December figures, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) is able to indicate the annual figures. In 2019, owner-occupied dwellings increased in price by 6.9 percent on average relative to the previous year.

House prices show upward trend

House prices reached a record high in August 2008 and subsequently started to decline, reaching a low in June 2013. The trend has been upward since then. In May 2018, the price index of owner-occupied dwellings exceeded the record level of August 2008 for the first time. In November and December 2019, house prices reached the highest level ever. Compared to the low in June 2013, house prices were up by 42 percent on average in December 2019.

Number of housing transactions up in December

According to figures by The Netherlands' Cadastre, the total number of dwellings sold in the month of December 2019 stood at 22,573. This is over 16 percent more than in December 2018. In 2019, 218,595 dwellings were sold, around the same number as in 2018.
