Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on agriculture and water management issues and Uzbekistan Farmers' Council organized a session.

The session discussed priority tasks, based on the report of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 24th anniversary of the Constitution of Uzbekistan.

During his speech, President said that farmers are main force for development of Uzbekistan and serve as main raw base for production enterprises. The farmers help to improve level and quality of population life.

Mirziyoyev also called to deepen reforms in agriculture sector, efficient use of land and water resources, as well as introduction of advanced technologies.

At the session, the participants noted that it is necessary to create intensive gardens and vineyards with use of advanced foreign experience and high technologies, expand production of export-oriented fruits, vegetables and husbandry products.

It was underlined that it is planned to increase the volume of processing fruits and vegetables by 1.8 times in next five years and increase processing volume from 17% to 30%, deepening processing of raw materials, first of all raw cotton.

The participant stated that farmers of Uzbekistan will make their contribution to achieving goal of increasing its GDP by twofold by 2030

The roundtable participants also discussed development of multi-disciplinary farms, which will assist to reform agriculture and ensuring food security.

The participants said that farmers should not only limit themselves with production and export of grain, cotton, fruits and vegetables, and contribute to improving economic power of Uzbekistan.

The session adopted corresponding decisions on considered issues.
