A delegation from the Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), led by Hani Salem Sonbol, the Chief Executive Officer, visited the Headquarters of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo on 15 December for discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two organisations.

Receiving the delegation, Afreximbank President Dr. Benedict Oramah said that given their shared overarching objectives of promoting trade among their member countries, a lot of synergies could be derived by the two institutions collaborating and leveraging off each other's strengths and experiences.

The President saw opportunities for the two organisations to collaborate to increase intra-African trade and trade between Afreximbank member countries and those of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Responding, Mr. Sonbol said that Afreximbank and ITFC needed to put together an action plan to guide the implementation of cooperation initiatives between them.

Accompanying Mr. Sonbol from the ITFC were Ahmaed Jan, General Manger, Treasury; Lassaad Ben Hassine, Manager, Africa Office; and Mahmoud Yassin, Manager, Arab States Office.

Joining President Oramah from Afreximbank were Amr Kamel, Executive Vice President, Business Development and Corporate Banking, and several other senior Bank officials.
