Aeroport Tolmachevo : Russian Post Opened Automated Mail Sorting Line at Novosibirsk Airport

December 20, 2016, Russian Post started a high-speed automated line Toshiba with the output of more than 200 thousand mailings per day at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport.

Automated sorting line is installed in the cargo terminal of the airport and is designed to handle both international and domestic mail packages weighing up to 3 kg (parcels and small international packages).

'Sorting automation will allow to increase the volume of international mail handled in Tolmachevo IMPC by more than two times as well as to speed up handling of domestic correspondence coming to the airport. In addition, it's a strategic step in the project for establishment of a large logistic mail centre (LMC) at Tolmachevo. After start of operations the line will operate as a part of LMC', noted Nikolay Novoseltsev, director of Siberia Macroregion FSUE Russian Post.

'Thanks to today's event Tolmachevo airport and the Novosibirsk region in general confirmed the status of one of the leading logistic centres in Russia. We are planning to further intensively develop this direction in cooperation with Russian Post', said Evgeniy Yankilevich, General Director of Airport Tolmachevo JSC at the opening of the automated sorting line.

It should be reminded that Russian Post and Toshiba Corporation signed an extended Memorandum on cooperation in the field of Russian mail and logistic systems automation in Tokyo on 16 December, 2016, during official visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Japan. Under the Memorandum Toshiba delivers logistic equipment and transfers licenses for a total amount of 9.6 million euro to equip facilities of Russian Post at Moscow Vnukovo and Novosibirsk Tolmachevo airports.

Siberia Macroregion FSUE Russian Post unites Federal Postal Service Departments of all regions of the Siberian Federal District. There are 5,900 branches and 101 post offices on the territory of Siberia Macroregion. The team of the subdivisions included into the structure of Siberia Macroregion is about 45 thousand people.

Federal Postal Service Department of the Novosibirsk region, a branch of FSUE Russian Post includes 15 post offices, 777 fixed and 7 mobile offices. The company includes more than 6,000 employees, including more than 2,000 postmen. About 300 cars; total length of the branch mail routes is 58,600 thousand km.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity - up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
