International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Wednesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.4% to 139.47. The European index increased 0.1% to 131.27, the Asian index rose 1% to 169.12, the Latin American index dropped 0.3% to 179.47 and the emerging markets index increased 1.2% to 283.14.

Novo Nordisk AS and Oatly Group AB were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

ADRs of Novo Nordisk fell 13% on Wednesday despite positive first-half results in which sales and profit rose on increased demand for diabetes treatments.

ADRs of Oatly Group rose 9% despite posting on Tuesday a wider loss for the second quarter. The Swedish maker of oat-based milk also cut its sales outlook for the year as it faces challenges, like the war in Ukraine and pandemic outbreaks.

ADRs of Credit Agricole SA rose 1.9% after the company said it appointed two deputy chief executive officers as it pursues its strategic plan to 2025. The company's CEO Philippe Brassac will directly supervise its asset-management subsidiary Amundi SA, the company said.
