International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Monday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts ticked up 1.7% to 146.05. The European index advanced 2.1% to 139.09. The Asian index edged up 1% to 169.21. The Latin American index gained 3.1% to 214.94, while the emerging-markets index increased 1.2% to 290.80.
Aegon NV was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The international financial services company rose 4.9% after it said it decided to sell its 50% stake in its Spanish insurance joint venture with Liberbank to Unicaja Banco SA for 177 million euros ($187 million) in proceeds.
Credit Suisse Group AG rose 3.4% after CEO Thomas P. Gottstein said in an interview with Bloomberg TV at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the company has experienced some headwinds in its wealth-management business amid the war in Ukraine and Covid-19 lockdowns in Asia but no money outflows.
