In 1987 Mr. Van der Veen started as buy side equity analyst at former ABN Bank covering Dutch banks, insurance and media companies.
After the merger of ABN and AMRO he became the European banks analyst.
In 1994 he was appointed head of Dutch Equity Research at the sell side.
During the period he headed ABN AMRO’s Dutch equity research made considerable progress in the research rankings.

1 in the Institutional Investor poll for the first time ever.
In 1996 Mr. Van der Veen became C.O.O of the Dutch equity brokerage in Amsterdam.
In 1998 he was appointed as C.O.O.
of the equity brokerage for Europe, Middle East and Africa overseeing the activities in some 19 offices in the region.
He was a member of the management team of the European brokerage as well as of the Emerging Markets management team.
In 2000 Mr. Van der Veen became Co Head of the Global Equity Team with Wiepke Postma managing Global Equity portfolio.
