Dr. Mushlin received a BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Rochester where he was Phi Beta Kappa and received the Joseph P.
O'Hearn Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship, in addition to being a University Xerox Presidential Scholar.
He attended Cornell University Medical College, graduating first in his class, receiving the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society designation in 1972.
Dr. Mushlin trained in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School where he was the Chief Resident in Medicine, receiving both Clinical and Research Fellowships in rheumatic disease.
He then received subspecialty training in rheumatology at the Robert Breck Brigham Hospital at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Mushlin currently is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, a Senior Physician in Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Julian Cohen Scholar in Medical Education.
Dr. Mushlin holds a number of directorships at Brigham and Women's Hospital and is Co-Director of the Preliminary Residency Pro-gram in Internal Medicine.
He speaks and writes widely about medicine and society, is on the Editorial Board of the Harvard Health Letter and is the Deputy Editor of the Harvard Medical School Family Health Guide.
Dr. Mushlin received the George W.
Thorn Award as the most outstanding teacher in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital for 2004-2005.
