Dr. Simon Loretz is a Senior Economist at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
He has worked in the Research Group "Macroeconomics and European Economic Policy" since 2017.
His research interests include international taxation, tax competition and harmonization, fiscal federalism, and applied microeconometrics.
Before this, he was a senior economist at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna, a lecturer at the University of Bayreuth, a research fellow at the Oxford University Center for Business Taxation, and a research assistant at the University of Innsbruck.
In addition to his academic background, he has been working on various applied research projects for national and international policymakers.
He was a scientific coordinator for a framework contract for the provision of economic analysis in taxation with the European Commission DG TAXUD.
He completed his doctorate at the University of Innsbruck and obtained his habilitation at the University of Bayreuth.
