Since joining the founding team at RLX Technologies in December 2000, Scott Farrand has been responsible for operating systems support, ServerBlade management and solutions development for scale-out applications.
He formerly worked for Alta Vista Company, where helped port the infrastructure for the search engine Web software from C/C++ on expensive compute infrastructure to many inexpensive Linux industry-standard x86 servers.
Prior to Alta Vista, Scott was at Compaq Computer Corporation for 12 years where he founded and developed Compaq's first systems management products.
Scott brought these products through several generational designs include Web-based solutions and porting multiple platforms that included: Windows NT®, NetWare, SCO-Unix, Tru64 Unix, Win95, Win98 and OS/2.
Scott directly managed the Systems Management group of 130 fulltime and 20 contract employees and several overseas programs.
Before joining Compaq, Scott founded a start-up software company where he developed the Windows Terminal program.
Scott earned a B.S.
in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.
He holds 10 U.S.
patents in systems management.
