Adam Smith is a private investor and serial entrepreneur having formed, co-founded, or started several private investment and operating partnerships since 1995, and as a former staff or executive member with established Wall Street and private investment firms, including Lehman Brothers, Caxton-Iseman Capital and Castle Harlan, Inc.
Mr. Smith has been involved in private investments in the U.S, primarily involving leading consumer and retail brands, and has partnered with leading private investment and venture firms including Carlyle Group, Golden Gate Capital, Quilvest USA, Bain Capital, DLJ Merchant Banking, Goode Partners, and Magnetar Capital.
Mr. Smith began his career in investment banking at Salomon Brothers Inc.
Mr. Smith earned an MBA with honors from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and a BA cum laude in International Relations and Economics from Boston University.
Mr. Smith is an active alumnus of Columbia Business School, a founding board member of the School's Private Equity Advisory Board, and a founder of the School's Investment Management Conference in 1997.
Mr. Smith is a co-founder of Friends of Leukemia Fighters, an oncology non-profit associated with the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and New York Presbyterian Hospital of New York City.
Mr. Smith is Chairman, Inaugural Piece for Peace Concert of the Tanenbaum Center in New York City and serves as an advisor to Sylvester Manor, an educational farm on Shelter Island, NY.
