Mr. Berkman has worked in the securities business since 1969 and has specialized in convertible securities since 1972.
Mr. Berkman was the Editor of the Value Line Convertible Survey from 1972 to 1979.
He then joined Merrill Lynch’s research department, as probably Wall Street’s first convertible analyst.
Mr. Berkman spent 5 years as a sell-side convertible analyst (at Merrill and then at Oppenheimer) before moving to the buy side.
In late 1983, Mr. Berkman became the head of convertibles trading for Princeton/Newport Partners, which was probably the first convertible hedge fund.
Mr. Berkman ran his own convertible hedge fund management company (Paul Berkman & Co. LLC) from 1992 until 2005.
His firm managed money, on an exclusive basis, for Paloma Partners from 1992 until 2000.
From 2000 until 2005, he managed the hedge fund Triborough Partners.
Mr. Berkman is a graduate of Columbia College.
