Duarte, 'the city of health,' houses the internationally acclaimed City of Hope National Medical Center which has been designated a Clinical Cancer Research Center, Inter-Community Medical Center, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, and Citrus Valley Health Partners which includes: Citrus Valley Medical Center, Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, Queen of the Valley Campus, and Hospice of the San Gabriel Valley. And more than 20 industrial medical clinics, dental and chiropractic facilities. The City of Industry archives begin before the 1957 date of incorporation. The transformation of the area and its' relationship to the metropolis of Los Angeles is what provided the impetus for the unique concept of the City. The archives depict the accomplishments as well as the struggles that are common only to a city of uncommon dynamics.
