Laura Dotson

Laura Dotson, a Managing Director with Kenmont Capital Partners, L.P.
, has full time responsibility for identifying, performing due diligence on and maintaining relationships with private equity funds.
Prior to joining Kenmont, Ms. Dotson was Portfolio Manager for Shell’s $6.5 billion pension trust in Houston with responsibility for asset allocation and both public and private equity portfolios.
On the private equity side, she managed a $400 MM portfolio composed of 17 funds/15 managers that returned 20+% after fees.
She developed the program’s strategy and investment process and a comprehensive performance tracking system for monitoring it.
The investment process was developed to include fundamental research, investment screening, due diligence, portfolio construction and presentations to the pension’s trustees.
Following a strategic decision by the trustees, the portfolio was sold in 1998.
It commanded a premium to net asset value in the sale.
Prior to Shell, Ms. Dotson served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assignments in Louisville, Houston and New York.
Ms. Dotson managed investigations of complex financial crimes, bribery and political corruption, which entailed extensive inquiries into oil, coal and trucking companies and specialized electronic evidence retrieval.
Ms. Dotson received a B.B.A.
from the University of Cincinnati.
She has served as a Trustee for the Houston Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund and on the advisory boards of several private equity funds.
