Founded in 1959 as Nomura Securities Investment Trust Co., Ltd., the firm became Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd. in 1997 when they merged with Nomura Investment Management Co., Ltd. Headquartered in Tokyo, NAM provides investment advisory services globally to a broad range of institutional investors as well as pooled investment vehicles, including private funds and Japanese investment trusts.

Nomura Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NAMHK) is a wholly-owned, Hong Kong-based investment management subsidiary of Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd. (NAM), which in turn is wholly-owned by Nomura Holdings, Inc. (TYO: 8604, NYSE: NMR), a financial holding company headquartered in Japan. Founded in 1988, NAMHK is NAM Group's hub for investment management of Hong Kong and China portfolios and marketing/client services for Greater China region. The firm manages various offshore funds which are primarily Greater China equities and investment trust funds that includes China A shares, established by NAM Group.
