Akasol AG engages in developing and manufacturing liquid-cooled, high performance, rechargeable lithium ion battery systems for buses, commercial vehicles, rail vehicles, ships, industrial vehicles and stationary applications. It operates through the following two segments On-Highway and Off-Highway. The On-Highway Segment supplies manufacturers of hybrid and fully electric buses and commercial vehicles. The Off-Highway Segment focuses on battery systems and services for manufacturers of rail vehicles, industrial vehicles and ships, along with stationary systems for storing energy from renewable sources. The company was founded by Sven Schulz, Felix von Borck, Björn Eberleh, and Stephen Raiser in 2008 and is headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany.
