Current Media, Inc. operates a cable television network and a website that distribute viewer-created content as well as internally developed and acquired content that is relevant to young adults. CurrentTV was launched in August 2005 and provides news, information and lifestyle entertainment. Programming is presented in 2 to 10 minute video segments rather than half-hour or one hour blocks. Nearly one-third of the content is created by viewers. Current.com, launched in October 2007, delivers news, information and entertainment content and serves as a connection to programming on CurrentTV. It is also a platform for collaborative media production. During 2007, advertising accounted for 16% of revenue and affiliate fees accounted for 84% of revenue. Affiliate fees are derived from long-term distribution agreements with cable, satellite and telecommunications operators who pay a monthly fee for each subscriber household that receives CurrentTV. There are over 50 million subscriber households in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
