Profile

Mr. Massey came to Murphy Capital Management after a successful, 30-year career on Wall Street in the commodity markets, principally in world and domestic sugar markets.
He joined MCM in the spring of 1986, purchasing a minority interest in the firm and is a consultant to the firm.
His commodity experience featured a transition period in the early 1960’s of the Rionda Group of American-owned Cuban sugar plantations, whose properties were expropriated by the Castro regime.
He was instrumental in the conversion of that group into a world-class marketing firm, functioning as both merchant and broker to sugar producing and consuming countries all over the world.
His principal areas of activity were in Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the countries comprising the old British Commonwealth, as well as the American sugar refining industry.
Immediately prior to commencement of a three year assignment to London as Managing Director of Rionda’s European subsidiary, he served on the Board of Managers of the (then) New York Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange.
He is a graduate of the NYU School of Business Administration, receiving an MBA in 1962.
