Udupi Power Corporation Limited (Formerly Nagarjuna Power Corporation Limited) is one of the group companies of LANCO, LANCO is fast emerging as one of the top three private sector power developers in India with 3,292 megawatt (MW) under operation, 5,953 MW under construction, and 7,110 MW of projects under development. Udupi Power Corporation Limited has established 2 X 600 MW imported coal based power project in Udupi District of Karnataka State in the western coastal region of India. UPCL is an associate of Lanco Infratech Limited. The Udupi Power Project is built with an investment of Rs.60,020 million and is situated at a distance of 35 Kms from Mangalore. The Udupi Power Project supplies 90% of the power generated to Karnataka State and 10% to Punjab State. UPCL is the first independent power project using 100% imported coal as fuel in the country. UPCL has committed to contribute to reduction of the power shortage in the State of Karnataka while protecting ecology environment of the region.
